What is a doula, and what to expect from my services

A doula is a trained and experienced professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals or couples before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas do not have medical training or provide medical care like doctors or midwives. Instead, they offer various forms of support to expectant parents, including:

  1. Emotional Support: I offer encouragement, reassurance, and a calming presence during labor and delivery. I will help you cope with the emotional aspects of childbirth.

  2. Physical Support: I provide comfort measures such as massage, positioning suggestions, and relaxation techniques to help manage pain and discomfort during labor.

  3. Informational Support: I provide evidence-based information about childbirth options, procedures, and interventions, empowering parents to make informed decisions about their care.

  4. Advocacy: I can act as advocates for my clients by helping them communicate their preferences to medical professionals and ensuring their birth plan is respected to the extent possible.

  5. Continuous Presence: I typically remain with the laboring person throughout labor and birth, offering continuous support and reassurance.
